\u05db\u05d4\u05e0\u05d9\u05dd needed to live their lives with such \u05d8\u05d4\u05e8\u05d4, since they would be eating\u00a0 \u05e7\u05d3\u05e9\u05d9\u05dd \u05d5\u05ea\u05e8\u05d5\u05de\u05d4, so it made life simpler by keeping all <\/u>their \u05d7\u05d5\u05dc\u05d9\u05df\u00a0 in \u05d8\u05d4\u05e8\u05d4.<\/p>\n

This way of life was rare even at the time when there was a \u05d1\u05d9\u05ea \u05d4\u05de\u05e7\u05d3\u05e9. Those that kept up with this practice were called \u05e4\u05e8\u05d5\u05e9\u05d9\u05dd.<\/p>\n

\"\u05e8\u05d1\u05d9<\/p>\n

Some say the \u05d1\u05df<\/a> \u05d0\u05d9\u05e9<\/a> \u05d7\u05d9<\/a>\u00a0 (perhaps) lived with such pureness. Although it was not 100%, since we do not have \u05de\u05d9 \u05d7\u05d8\u05d0\u05ea, nevertheless practicing to the extent possible, is a sign of\u00a0 \u05e7\u05d3\u05d5\u05e9\u05d4.<\/p>\n

2 –\u00a0 Our \u05de\u05e9\u05e0\u05d4 discusses the pedestrian traffic patterns in \u05d9\u05e8\u05d5\u05e9\u05dc\u05d9\u05dd. During the times of\u00a0 \u05d9\u05d5\u05dd \u05d8\u05d5\u05d1, when the majority of the people in the city were\u00a0 \u05d8\u05d4\u05d5\u05e8, they would walk in the middle of the street. The minority, that were not\u00a0 \u05d8\u05d4\u05d5\u05e8,\u00a0 would walk on the side.<\/p>\n

The opposite would be true throughout the rest of the year.<\/p>\n

3 – The interesting feature of the\u00a0 \u05de\u05e7\u05d5\u05d4 in\u00a0 \u05d9\u05e8\u05d5\u05e9\u05dc\u05d9\u05dd in that it had two staircases – one for entering and the other for exiting. This architectural feature enabled to ascertain the status of a \u05db\u05dc\u05d9 that would be found in the area of this unique\u00a0 \u05de\u05e7\u05d5\u05d4 whether it was\u00a0 \u05d8\u05d4\u05d5\u05e8 or not.<\/p>\n

4 – A knife that was found on\u00a0 \u05e2\u05e8\u05d1 \u05e4\u05e1\u05d7.<\/p>\n

\"Animal<\/p>\n

We diverted to a general topic related to cases and various circumstances discussed in\u00a0 \u05d2\u05de\u05e8\u05d0 that are only in theory. Meaning that in practice, the \u05d2\u05de\u05e8\u05d0 knew such occurrences would never happen, but would nevertheless spend time tackling the Halachic ramifications.<\/p>\n

5 – The classic example is the definition of a \u05d3\u05d5\u05e4\u05e7 and a \u05d2\u05d5\u05dc\u05dc . What is a \u05d3\u05d5\u05e4\u05e7\u00a0 and a \u05d2\u05d5\u05dc\u05dc? (See here<\/a>, Shiur Sukkah 23a)<\/p>\n

Rashi <\/a>explains that a \u05d2\u05d5\u05dc\u05dc\u00a0 is\u00a0 the stone that is placed on top of the grave to cover the deceased person, and\u00a0 \u05d3\u05d5\u05e4\u05e7 is the side stone(s).<\/p>\n

\"Written<\/p>\n

Rabbeinu Tam has an issue with this for we find in many places that this translation does not make any sense. For example: \u2018One cannot use an animal as a <\/strong>\u05d3\u05d5\u05e4\u05e7\u00a0 or a\u00a0 <\/strong>\u05d2\u05d5\u05dc\u05dc\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now who would place an animal on top of a\u00a0 \u05de\u05ea?<\/p>\n

\"Tiny<\/p>\n

Another example: \u2018Standing on a\u00a0 <\/strong>\u05d3\u05d5\u05e4\u05e7 and a <\/strong>\u05d2\u05d5\u05dc\u05dc\u00a0 does not make someone <\/strong>\u05d8\u05de\u05d0\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now, if according to Rashi, these are stones that are on top or the side on the\u00a0 \u05de\u05ea, how\u00a0 is that possible?<\/p>\n

Tosfos however, defends Rashi and says that the \u05d2\u05de\u05e8\u05d0 is only discussing in abstract and not to say it can actually happen in real life.<\/p>\n
