A few brief notes from last week and this week\u2019s Shiur.<\/p>\n

1 – We mentioned that our \u05d2\u05de\u05e8\u05d0 is the basis for a fundamental idea in Tanya.<\/p>\n

\u05e2\u05d3 \u05db\u05d0\u05df \u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05ea \u05db\u05d5\u05d5\u05e0\u05d4, \u05de\u05db\u05d0\u05df \u05d5\u05d0\u05d9\u05dc\u05da \u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05ea \u05e7\u05e8\u05d9\u05d0\u05d4<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Discussed briefly the 6 \u05e4\u05e8\u05e7\u05d9\u05dd spanning from 35-40 where the Alter Rebbe explains how the \u05e9\u05db\u05d9\u05e0\u05d4 comes to dwell in the physical world through practical mitzvot.<\/p>\n

Now, chapters 35\u201337 emphasizes the importance of the\u00a0 \u05de\u05e2\u05e9\u05d4 part of \u05ea\u05d5\u05e8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05d5\u05ea and chapters 38\u201340 emphasizes the importance thought and intention \u05db\u05d5\u05d5\u05e0\u05d4 \u05d5\u05de\u05d7\u05e9\u05d1\u05d4.<\/p>\n

Having established in chapter 35-37 the importance of \u05de\u05e2\u05e9\u05d4 \u05d1\u05e4\u05d5\u05e2\u05dc, at the beginning of chapter 38, the Alter Rebbe quotes our \u05d2\u05de\u05e8\u05d0 where it says that with \u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05ea\u00a0 that need to be verbalized, \u05db\u05d5\u05d5\u05e0\u05d4 is not <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u05de\u05e2\u05db\u05d1. The exception is with the first \u05e4\u05e1\u05d5\u05e7 in \u05e7\u05e8\u05d9\u05d0\u05ea \u05e9\u05de\u05e2 and the first \u05d1\u05e8\u05db\u05d4 in\u00a0 \u05e9\u05de\u05d5\u05e0\u05d4 \u05e2\u05e9\u05e8\u05d4. Thus, we see that \u05de\u05e2\u05e9\u05d4 \u05d1\u05e4\u05d5\u05e2\u05dc is the more important part of any \u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05d4.<\/p>\n

The Alter Rebbe continues to explains that although just the \u05de\u05e2\u05e9\u05d4 \u05d4\u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05d4 fulfills one\u2019s obligation, however, the \u05db\u05d5\u05d5\u05e0\u05d4\u00a0 is the mitzvah’s \u05e0\u05e9\u05de\u05d4 of the \u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05d4, without which it is like a body without life.<\/p>\n

1b – We discussed what position one should recite the \u05e9\u05de\u05e2 – the meaning of \u05e4\u05e8\u05e7\u05d3\u05df – face up or down – and the story of \u05e8\u05d1\u05d4 \u05d1\u05e8 \u05d1\u05e8 \u05d7\u05e0\u05d4 with one of the \u05de\u05ea\u05d9 \u05de\u05d3\u05d1\u05e8 see \u05d1”\u05d1 \u05e2\u05d3<\/a> and the little people known as \u05db\u05e4\u05ea\u05d5\u05e8\u05d9\u05dd<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2 – We discussed the \u05ea\u05d5\u05e1\u05e4\u05d5\u05ea about being \u05de\u05e4\u05e1\u05d9\u05e7 in middle of \u05e7\u05e8\u05d9\u05d0\u05ea \u05e9\u05de\u05e2 to answer \u05d0\u05de\u05df or Kaddish.<\/p>\n

3 – Being \u05de\u05e4\u05e1\u05d9\u05e7 In the middle of \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc and \u05de\u05d2\u05d9\u05dc\u05d4.<\/p>\n

Mentioned the 3 types of \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc.<\/p>\n

1- The original \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc\u00a0 said during \u05e9\u05d7\u05d9\u05d8\u05ea \u05e7\u05e8\u05d1\u05df \u05e4\u05e1\u05d7. This was recited only \u05d1\u05e6\u05d9\u05d1\u05d5\u05e8.<\/p>\n

2 – \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc said on 21 days a year which is one on the \u05e9\u05d1\u05e2 \u05de\u05e6\u05d5\u05d5\u05ea \u05d3\u05e8\u05d1\u05e0\u05df. [Since it can be said \u05d1\u05d9\u05d7\u05d9\u05d3\u05d5\u05ea as well, it is called \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc \u05d1\u05d9\u05d7\u05d9\u05d3].<\/p>\n

3 – Another type of \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc \u05d1\u05d9\u05d7\u05d9\u05d3 is the one that is said only partly – meaning that we skip 2 portions in the middle. This type is said on \u05e8\u05d0\u05e9 \u05d7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 and \u05d7\u05d5\u05dc \u05d4\u05de\u05d5\u05e2\u05d3 \u05e4\u05e1\u05d7.<\/p>\n

Now, this type 3\u00a0 \u05d4\u05dc\u05dc is a wide topic on how exactly to describe it and whether one says a \u05d1\u05e8\u05db\u05d4\u00a0 on it.<\/p>\n

The opinions vary from \u2018no obligation to say it all all\u2019 to a very strong \u05de\u05e0\u05d4\u05d2.<\/p>\n

The \u05d1\u05e8\u05db\u05d4 issue is also much discussed.<\/p>\n

4. We discussed a fascinating \u05e8\u05d1\u05d9\u05e0\u05d5 \u05d1\u05d7\u05d9\u05d9<\/a>: Why are \u05de\u05e9\u05e0\u05d9\u05d5\u05ea written so cryptically? Why wasn’t the \u05ea\u05d5\u05e8\u05d4 given to \u05de\u05e9\u05d4 \u05e8\u05d1\u05d9\u05e0\u05d5 with a full set of \u05de\u05e9\u05e0\u05d9\u05d5\u05ea (with the \u05d1\u05e8\u05d8\u05e0\u05d5\u05e8\u05d0)?<\/p>\n

5. \u05d7\u05e1\u05d5\u05e8\u05d9 \u05de\u05d7\u05e1\u05e8\u05d9 – \u05d5\u05d4\u05db\u05d9 \u05e7\u05ea\u05e0\u05d9 – why didn\u2019t the \u05d2\u05de\u05e8\u05d0 simply correct the text of the \u05de\u05e9\u05e0\u05d4 to avoid future confusion and misunderstanding?<\/p>\n

We mentioned the \u05ea\u05e4\u05d0\u05e8\u05ea \u05d9\u05e9\u05e8\u05d0\u05dc – \u00a0in order to assist in the memorization, \u05de\u05e9\u05e0\u05d9\u05d5\u05ea were repeated in a particular song. The words of every Mishna fit to a particular tune, thereby easing the memorization.<\/p>\n
